This is a good deal, unless you want to hit what you're aiming at.

for this price anyone looking to get into the sport should buy it. you will probably not hit anything and then want to get a better gun unless your playing with others who have same markers. then its kind of like a technical water balloon battle but any kind of paintball is still fun even if no one hits anything. well upgrading this barrel would be like putting a pretty bow on a fat chick. might look nice but still doesnt do much. tippman is still the right choice for first time players looking to compete but not spend a lot. 17 years playing and been through 5 tippmans or so. always my back up marker.

I usually borrow my guns from a friend and or get the rental. Sometimes the rentals are better.
#3 - can you recommend any kits on Amazon? I noticed that tippmans and spyders seem to be the most purchased. What's a good gun with the best bang for the buck?

Tippmans are reliable guns, but the interal mechanics have not changed since the first major release, Tippman Pro-lite.
Tippmans runs better on CO2, but most people use compressed air for consistency.
BT makes Tippman clones for cheaper.
