Maybe because some people have a perfectly good 775 system and don't want to buy a whole new platform. I'm hoping there will be a real price cut on these in the next few months, till then this isn't much of a deal.

AMD announced that they going to drop the price for quad to less than a $100... Unless you are a fan of Intel products...

these are the perfect upgrade for those running the older Core Duo chips, assuming their mobos support C2Q

If you have a Micro Center near you it is available for $169 in store only. I was fortunate enough to have one nearby about 45 minutes away. $169 is the cheapest I have seen thus far for the Q9550.
