I expect these to come down in price in a couple of weeks.

Anyone know what the screen resolution on these is? Or how they compare to the Philips models?

The resolution is resolution 1440x234. It got very mixed reviews on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Pandigital-Digital-Photo-Interchangeable-Frames/dp/B000FNPW96). I would be very weary.

I would recommend the Phillips one more. (http://astore.amazon.com/revlisoftblog-20/detail/B000HWQ75I/102-6451182-6552926) . It has also recieved lots of great reviews from other people.

I'm glad these are finally coming down in price. It was ridiculously expensive a few years back.

Do these require a monthly subscription to use, or do they work stand alone? A used a similar type of device a few years ago, but I had to plug it to a phone line and pay a few bucks a month in order to get pictures to it.

This appears to not require this, but wanted to make sure. Looks like a good Christmas present for the in-laws.
