Cheap side-pull brakes... when stopping isn't part of your vocabulary. Strap a wet sponge to the rim to help train noobs.

for $150 this is a great start to a fixed gear bike, pull off the crappy components, rebuild (or buy new) the rear wheel, get a decent front brake, enjoy.

#11, you're an idiot. You might as well jack a bike from somebody who knows what their doing than go through all that BS. Lemme guess, you have brand new 26's on your rusted out 83 caprice...word.

Shimano parts are good though arent they?

you will find shimano makes budget and not so budget products, both. there is more to a bike than 1 brand name item on it. there are some folks who refuse to put anything shimano on their bike because they want better. think weight of frame, amount it flexes, how much noise from the road it will absorb, how long the bike will last - when making a decision. i spent a day riding shitty bikes and progressing to more expensive models. i settled on a "specialized roubaix expert" for my first bike. it has taken me through one 86 mile tour, and i do about 50 miles a week on it. i haven't ridden the gmc denali, but i doubt i could do the same on it.

So, Rajan, how much did that "specialized roubaix expert" set you back?

And how much of a problem is unabsorbed road noise, if you're not listening to your ipod?

A junk bike, is a junk bike.
I road a huffy 10-Speed with a rear disc brake when I was in the Navy, It was heavy, and it was tough riding drunk, but I never had a problem with it.
The $158 road bike looks ok, but I wouldn't expect to be handin' to my kids one day.
