Does anybody know if any DirecTV content is unencrypted? BTW, this is a $5 increase over previous offers on Ben's Bargains.

These are great for mythtv OTA content.
Won't work for DirectTV, that was a joke?
Tuner sensitivity is much better than my pci hdtv card, plus no weird driver and firmware issues.
Don't know if the price qualifies as much of a deal, got mine for something like $25 less.

This does NOT support DirecTV. This device picks up over the air (OTA) and unencrypted QAM broadcast from the cable company. I have this at home and I can tell you that it's pretty sweet! Integrated into Windows 7 without a hitch.

Couple of things you should know before jumping into this.
1. It does not work with analog station, you'll will only get digital local stations if you use an antennae (about 5 stations, depending on your locale). Not cost effective to get 5 or 6 channels including the antennae. Probably cheaper to go with sat or cable.
2. If you use cable such as Comcast, they will only broadcast the minimum stations required by law in clear unencrypted QAM which is the same as using an antennae (about 5 stations or less depending on how far along they've transitioned to digital).

2. You're paying a lot more to get 5 or 6 local stations where as another set top box from the cable company will cost you 5 bucks a month with the full channel lineup.
I got one and it's sitting in the garage collecting dust.
