I have one, and this is an AMAZING device. However, even if you don't think you need network capabilities, suck it up and pay the extra $30-40 to get the WD HD TV Live version that just came out and includes a network jack (RJ45) and can access network-based media via DLNA, as well as other internet services (YouTube, etc). Trust me, you'll be happy you did!
They don't have Netflix yet, but there are rumors that it will ship in a firmware update... but no promises. I think there is also a wifi adapter available as well, although, I wouldn't recommend DLNA streaming of video (HD or otherwise) via wifi... my 5 years of experience doing this sort of stuff (DLNA, uPnP, etc.) has shown that the physical cable is King.
So, all of that said, anyone want to buy my WD HD TV player (same one from this ad?) Make me a reasonable offer! I still have the original box and all manuals, etc., and it is only 2-3 months old. I want to upgrade to the Live version!

#3, keep your stuff if you know this review which I quote from avs forum
"...WDTV Live: No menu support, no chapter selection support, networking issues, the 720p and SD content look worse - upscaling looks worse then the Asus O!Play or the WDTV1 (reported by many users), tiny remote control (need more buttons)
Power consumption: On WDTV1, it's always warm to hot in the standby mode with 9W consumption unlike ~0W on CinemaTube or 6W on PCH. Hopefully WDTV2 would be better than WDTV1 on the power consumption...."

I'll cast a vote for the PS3. Skipping for the moment the (obvious) gameplay, Bluray, and web browsing features...I've had great success streaming HD video from a PC wirelessly (technically, the PS3 is wired to the router, but the PC is elsewhere). I usually stream AVI, but in the case of HD files, I use mkv2vob to convert MKV format.

Is this for storing pirated movies and playing them back?
