I used to have something like that few years ago. It has great wife acceptance factor because it is small and easy to use. Since then I have switched to modded Xbox and wife acceptance factor dropped 99%

The modded Xbox is the way to go IMO. Way ahead of the rest. I have 3 of them.

Oldschoolgamer dawt ca is where I got mine done. got a 500gb drive in there and have all the emulators (MAME, NES, SEGA, etc). You can even dl XBOX games to the hard drive too. Just make sure you know how to FTP to the thing - makes life easier for you.
