If you can't carry a socket set, these are better than slip-joint pliers.

these are HORRIBLE!!! the pins are spring loaded, and sometimes the springs get stuck. and if not all of them are working properly, the pins bend.
get a set of wrenches. or at least a crescent wrench.

These are quite handy for small projects. You don't want to try and loosen rusted or tight bolts with these. #8 is correct about the pins.

Just another one of those tool gadgets you will use every now and then out of guilt for having bought it, but will always have been better off not using.
