removable plates are great to have but they don't heat up as fast. It is nice to have the selectable heat settings. Hamilton Beach also makes a nice grill that opens up to 180 degrees for a nice griddle.

These seem like such a better option in theory than in practice. We bought ours and subsequently bid it ado in a garage sale as it was hardly used once the novelty wore off. Wonder what the percentage of "resale" occurs with this sort of unit? My guess is very similar to exercise equipment...

Same as #2, bought it, used it a few times, gave it away, bought it AGAIN, used it once or twice.

Add me to the growing list. No complaints with it when I use it, which about once a year now. Otherwise it is banished to the back of the storage closet. Its just too darn big to leave out where perhaps it would get used more often.
