Anybody still listen to radio? Even the stations that claim "more rock, less talk" play so many commercials and repeat the same songs so often that listening is more like torture than entertainment. If I am going to listen to music on my stereo, I choose internet radio every time, haven't used the built in tuner in years.

I just got HD head unit for my car. Not because it had the HD feature but because it was cheap and had other features I wanted. But you are right. Unless it is a new radio station, the songs repeat and the commercial brakes are longer and longer.

i bought one while back hook it up to inputs on empty red white rca jack found a station i liked leave it their 24/7 itsounds excellent some station are lil ard pull in but if you like hdtv this same.. only for your radio it great! and no monthly fees, 95 + % commerical free station. just 1 or two a hour. buy one! it opens up am/fm dial to new better sounding fm station and am too.

Imagine that...radio stations need to play commercials to actually stay in business. Who knew? That said, FM radio stations in HD normally have sub-channels (HD2 and sometimes HD3, but HD3 normally has less bandwidth/quality).

Those HD2 sub-channels right now are generally commercial free or at least have very few interruptions. Many of the HD3 channels are simulcasts of AM stations.

I'd take a well-processed HD2 station over a squashed and bandwidth-limited satellite channel any day.

Commercial radio is a local medium, by and large. Can't say that about internet radio, unless it's some station's web stream. And hey, who needs internet radio with iPods/mp3s and Rhapsody, etc.?
