This was 480 at Dell and Amazon a few weeks ago. Picked it up at Amazon to save on tax. Not a bad TV. Search AVSforums for D-Nice's settings. To get into the service menu, hold down the Volume - button on the TV itself and press info (on the remote) 3 times.

plasmas are better than lcds. they just use a ton more power. and wont work in high altitude. youtube search for plasmas in high altitudes. they explode!

I would pay a little more to get a samsung.

    Samsung PN42B450 $675.00
    Technical Details
42-inch high definition TV with 720p resolution
Three HDMI, two component, and one composite video input; two 10W bottom speakers and SRS TruSurround HD for a rich surround-sound experience
Samsung E-panel technology like FilterBright, 600Hz Subfield Motion, .001 response time, and a Mega dynamic contrast ratio for a stunning picture
Anynet+ (CEC standard) technology makes system control of compatible A/V devices like a Blu-ray player or HTIB system a one-touch operation
    One-year parts and labor warranty

Panny and Sammy are pretty much neck and neck for the most part. They do things well that the other does not so well. Its basically down to preference.

I prefer a low price sooo.

I have this TV and I love it. Its the best deal for the money ..

same lcds will cost you a lot more and any better plasma is also $150 more at least. so go for it

The TC-P42S1 (1020p resolution and the superior Neo PDP panel) has been going for about $200 more lately, bundled with a Panasonic Blu-Ray player. For me the price/quality tradeoff made that a better deal even without the bonus DVD player. Your mileage may vary.

I live at about 5800 feet and I love this TV. Got it at $570 a couple months ago. The high altitude thing is if you're in the mountains, I guess.

I was waiting for this deal to come back since the $480 deal, I ended up cashing in 20,000 amex points for a $200 Dell gift certificate, but by the time they sent it to me the deal was over. I ended up going with the TC46G10 instead with the free blu-ray and spent $1000 instead. Thanks Dell, you could not have offer this a week ago!!!!

Anyhow I got the TV I really wanted so I'm happy but this is probably the best bang for the buck TV out there. Don't forget 5% Bing cashback! It will at least cover most of the sales tax.
