This is very strange. In reading over the reviews @ NE, (in the very poor section) there was a customer that contacted Rosewill about a defective unit. The reply he got back was that this unit is discontinued. I guess NE is trying to dump all remaining stock on this item. I would say Pass on this. Buy a name brand for about the same price.

I have one of these. It works very well. I do not use the power adapter, and I took the weighted pedestal off. I have had not one issue with it. I got it for ~$20 a year ago. The one I had did not like vista and I needed a replacement with 7 ports. Would buy it again today if I needed to.

have a black one of these, works ok. I don't use the base, it's not heavy enough to stand on its own. might be good if you used some adhesive or something.

Looks a bit tippy with cords dangling from all the sockets, unless you prop them up on your desk but who wants to do that?
