Do not depend on this thing for emergency cause the rechargable battery won't hold the charge until you need it.

They are good for emergency lighting. Turn the crank for a minute and you can light it up for quite a while.

A regular flashlight that takes AA batteries is a far better option, potentially more light (easily more light), more runtime, and AA batteries are good to have around for other emergency use too. Complete the kit by adding some Eneloop LSD AA's and a quick-charger with a car lighter plug for recharging.
