the point isn't the size of the drive, its the drive itself. This is the only way to expand the storage of a series 3 tivo without hacking the device and voiding the warranty. This is not meant to be just an backup external hard drive.

I have a Motorola HD DVR box with my Comcast service. It has an eSATA port on the back. Any idea if or how I can expand my storage via eSATA? It also has an RJ-45 jack, and USB, and maybe even 1394 (I don't recall the latter.) But none of them seem to be useful. I found a post from 2 years ago saying they were included but not activated, but that was, um, 2 years ago...

I wish these were cheaper. I replaced my TIVO hard drive. I kept the original drive in case I have to send it back for repairs.
