will this thing play 1080p mkv files?

@2, It should. I have a HTPC I built which is powered by the same E5200 processor. It's running Vista Home Basic and starts directly into XBMC. I can play all of the 1080P mkv I've thrown at it so far.

I'm not sure about the CPU directly decoding BluRay since the bitrates are higher, but mkvs are great so far. As long as you aren't counting on GPU video decoding or heavy gaming this computer should be pretty good.

Lenovo should call it IdeaApple! Shame on you!.. It's different in black, wise, and flat compare with Mac mini!
