Blue-ray DVD player under $100. That's something. If I only owned a Blue-ray movie... Smile

54% of customers gave this 5 stars and 23% gave one star. I think I will pass on this potential x-mas gift.

Woo Hoo, sub $100 blu-ray. Of course my HTPC has played BDs for years so I don't care, but nice to see.

Several New Eggers had this "recertified" unit arrive DOA.

A little Google-ing shows that this is only a V1.1 model, newer discs tend to lock up, firmware updates are not available.

Hey, I'm cheap (I'm here aren't I?), but this one has too many problems, pass.

The player is great and the price is wonderful for a first-time to own Blue Ray Player. A big problem, that I really wish I knew about before I bought it, was that you REQUIRE updates periodically for the firmware of the player. Without the updates, newer disks may not load at all. You won't even know they won't work until after you buy them (for $20 to $80 each) and find out after the fact, that the player cannot play them without an update. I didn't know this about players needing updates to the firmware until afterwords. No ethernet connection, no WiFi ability (which both are quite common on almost all other players), and no updates at all on the website to even put on a USB device. NOTHING. Spend the couple bucks more - it's a lot cheaper than having to buy a whole new player only 5 months after buying this one - just to be able to continue to watch new movies.

This is about the worst model out there. $80 is way too much for this POS.

I like the price, but I'll wait. It's about time for blu-ray to become cheap.

Newegg has been trying to unload these for a while now.

I agree with #6: worth paying double for NEW BD Player with all the cool ethernet and other features. Thanks for the clear info on why not to buy.
