Wholesale price is $43.50 plus shipping, so it isn't a bad deal.

be prepared for it to arrive damaged due to poor packaging! Newegg was once a great place to buy hard drives from but not anymore.

Who buys anything under 500GB for a desktop anymore? I'm running dual 1TBs...

Assume it will come packaged fine, most of them do it's just the few that don't which people complain about then that is endlessly repeated as if it is the only thing to know when it isn't.

I do agree with those that complain, ALL drives should be pacakged well, but Newegg probably sells more hard drives than anyone else on the internet, if they had excessive problems you'd hear more about it than just a few random comments.

The more important thing to consider is the drastic capacity loss and only 8MB cache for only a couple dollars lower cost, it's not hard these days to find 500GB for $50.

#7 THANK YOU.. You took the words, out of my mouth. I agree with you 200%.. Not to bragg, I bought tons of HD from NE, Yes, got a few DOA out of 100 that's less than 5%

Now these's days, you can get a decent 500gb for 50

Hmm, i didn't know that 48 dollars was too much for this. I thought this was actually a good deal. I guess i've been out of the loop for a good while now!

#10 it's the price per Gb - 1Tb drives are often below $80, making this a sucky deal per Gb.

    If you're near a Frys store ... 500gb internal for $44 in today's ad, $78 for a 1TB external in yesterday's ad.

yeah, i just went today, 84.xx after tax for the external. It looks really clean, aluminum/plastic silver with bamboo accents. with single platters around 500gb there isn't any reason to get a 320gb for 44, except that you lose less data when your drive fails, yippee!

    Wow!! What brand was that?

People might consider this drive if they don't need more capacity and they are trying to keep the overall cost low ie: making a machine for resale. Other than that, save your money and get a larger drive with a lower $/GB ratio, like the current Newegg shell shocker 1.5 TB for $95 free shipping.
