If you had a 478 P4 or Celeron D chip and some spare parts collecting dust, it might be a choice for a file server or surfing web.

I thought like #1... But if you have a good strong 487 like 3.2Ghz in an old Sony Vaio pull the old DDR/AGP mobo and use this. With cheap 4Gb DDR2-667 and a PCI-E x16 graphics and it would breath new life and be more cost effective. Better than getting an add in AGP card.

the Via P4M900 is a pretty decent chipset - and for this price, it's well worth doing exactly what #3 suggested. thanks casecutter, you sure gave me an idea to upgrade the oldest AGP machine (2002) we have at home. But... can I just reuse the same old hard drive with WinXP SP3? would I need some new Northbridge drivers from Biostar/Via?
