These aren't really intended to be bright enough to see in the daylight; if so, they would be distractingly bright in the dark. I have one from Oregon Scientific with a rotating projection and love it. Wife was annoyed at first but has learned to depend on it as well. Always easy to find out the time at night (on the ceiling) without having to squint for the small display on the clock.
