Is it possible to power any 1TB or biger USB drive from the USB power without having to lug around a wal-mart?

Uh, the technical name is Wall-Wart. Thanks. And yes it's possible if you have a multiple USB connector that powers the unit.

Any specific models you know of? I am also looking for an external drive powered by USB but the small form notebook drives are pricy.

I bought the Western Digital 1 TB 2.5" usb powered hard drive.

This was the only place that sold them a month ago. The drives don't exist separately in the wild. Ignore the ratings from the retard that can't use a usb cable. The drive rocks.
