They'd protect it from scratches, but that's about it.

They give good protection from scratches but very little protection from banging it around. They're neoprene so you get the padding of the rubber itself but no extra padding. Mine is pretty tight on my Acer Aspire One with the 6 cell battery but it still works just fine. The smaller battery would fit in it much better.

I opted for a regular bag for my netbook, more protection and storage for the power cord & a mouse.
