A dell at Buy.com?

If you're looking for a netbook alternative the D420 being offered at Buy.com is a better option in my opinion. $289.99 for a 3 pounder with 12" screen. Weight is the same, Core Solo U2500 is a bit better than an atom processor, and the 12" screen supports standard resolution of 1280.

#9, most D420s sport a dual core processor, making them MUCH better than a netbook's atom proc. Only weakness is the 1.8" hard drive, which is relatively slow (but you can buy an SSD in the future to make it a screamer). The D420s are wonderful machines--built like tanks, lightweight, great keyboards, great screens and 5+ hours of life with the 9-cell. We have two of them and are happy with them.

The specs read U2500, which is indeed a core solo. I agree they are better than the atom, but "much" may be an exaggeration.

In the end we both agree, they are great laptops.
