Glad I bought the GE DECT 6.0 set (answering machine + 5 handsets/chargers) for $47 earlier this year. My point is that this is just another example of rapid price inflation. Good sale prices for flash drives were about $1/gig, now vendors are asking twice that. Lucky for us that the Gov't. can assure us that the CPI shows virtually no inflation.

#1, Panasonic is much better than GE, I would spend $111 buy this, not buy GE for $47

The sound quality is excellent. Every handset has a speakerphone function that works well.
I agree with #2--Panasonic is worth the $$$.

100 bux for a set of landline phones is not worth the money...how often do you use a landline?...10 times per year?...how long do these phones last? 10 years at most?...1 dollar per use? plus you have to pay for a landline...no thanks...you just need one cell phone...

#4 - How often? More like 10x a day, and generally 10x the use of my cell phone. Land lines still work well for those w/ families, who often work from a home office, and/or who don't live next to a cell tower - plus our land line costs approx. 1/8 to 1/10 what those minutes would cost on a equivalent cell plan.
