That's great advice #1, but I have a better idea, just pop the lid off and use your digital camera to take a picture of the platters. Since the camera is digital it will store all the information it sees.

#4: 5400RPM.
Surprised this is still in stock hours after being posted. Lowest price on the WD GP 2TB I've seen. In for one here. Maybe everyone is waiting for a $130 Hitachi 7200RPM 2TB again or a Seagate 2TB...
I've been very pleased with how cool and quiet my previous WD GP drives performed. Seagate LP was an improvement over their scalding hot 7200RPM 500GB drives, but still not as cold as WD GP. Since I live in Arizona, it's not just the power the drive consumes that I'm dealing with -- it's also the power and A/C fan noise required to dissipate any heat put out by my computer. If you live in a cool climate, maybe a heat producing brand is good for you.

If it's reliable, this looks perfect for the price.

What? Waiting for a $130 Hitachi 7200RPM 2TB? Still expensive!
I bought it from Dell $115 AR + FS.

#7: Nice job.
No rebates on this deal... Prolly see it for less later on (maybe the week before christmas?), but I'm ready to use this right now.
