just go buy the Avia DVD esentials disc and actually calibrate your display the right way (well, short of hooking up a signal generator and a laptop). It isn't much and you'll be a lot happier with the results... and you can do it to ANY display you have.

A friend of mine got one at BestBuy on Black Friday for $999. Even though they opened at 5 AM and there were only 5 guaranteed per store, he went at 10 AM and got the last one. Lucky mofo!
Anyway, the Panasonic plasmas are always highly rated, and not just by Consumer Reports. I have an older one of their commercial plasmas, no tuner or speakers, and am happy with everything but the fact that the price has come WAAAY down in the past 3 years. Of course, I expected that, but it still hurts.

This is a decent deal. I'm still holding out for the 600u version of this to drop in price.

I personally prefer the Samsung S4253. The picture quality is better and the piano black bezel is alot nicer.

"is there a website to show what's the best color setting for each model HDTV?"
Not that I know of but that is a great effing idea. You can start one and make a lot of money like Ben does!

#20: There are calibration DVD's that you can buy. You set your TV so that it looks perfect.

boscovs is a mall like jc penny and kauffmans... i think they are part of kauffmans actually, as their credit cards work with each other. Reputable, nice store - i bought suits from them before - nice $300-400 suits for $100.
Question - I want to get the best value TV 37-42"... 1080p preferred... which one should i get?

for all they say about sharp aquos LCDs i really have no idea what the big deal is. never been crazy about them. the only LCDs i really like are sony bravias, but to me, they still do not hold a candle to plasmas when it comes to black levels. panasonics represent the best value, but the best in terms of image quality goes to pioneer and hitachi plasmas supposedly. i'd still go with the panny though..

#21, just use THX Optimizer to adjust color settings. You can find them on these DVDs, The Incredibles, Cars, Star Wars Episode II (though I think you can find them on any SW epi).
you can even order THX optimizer glasses from THX for a few bucks.
