D430 for $300 with Core 2 is a pretty good deal. Everything about that computer is great except the battery life.

#2, you are confusing "Dell Outlet" with "Dell Financial Services".
Dell Outlet sells refurbished computers, basically returns and cancelled orders. Most of the systems sold there have never been used by the consumer, or at most, used for a day or so then returned.
Dell Financial Services sells off-lease business systems. That means these are truly used computers - most of them used daily for three years.
