These guys are hands-down the WORST web-hosting company I've ever dealt with. And I've been a web developer for 10 years, so that's saying something. Do not touch with a 10' pole.
Run far far away from this "deal". These guys will rip you off. Not only do they require 30 days notice to cancel or they automatically renew (there is no opt out for this), they also send email promotions where you have to respond by a certain date or they automatically opt you in. If thats not enough, they have incredibly slow servers and don't even use cpanel.
Has anyone had a good experience or is it not even worth the time? Thanks a lot.
-Jeff
Is 1&1 or Dreamhost better?
I researched these guys when it was time for me to move my personal website. Their hosting contract gives them the right to sign you up for a premium service without asking you. You will have to pay extra for the service and it can be expensive -I read one user who was being billed hundreds of dollars. You have a certain amount of time to opt out but who needs that? I ended up going with Bluehost.com.
i agree with number 1. WORST web-hosting company i've ever dealt with.
wow, thanks for the fedback. I will look elsewere
hmmm, I wonder if Ben himself looks at these comments and takes them into consideration. Thanks for the helpful feedback!
These same comments come up EVERY time Globat deals surface, and it's been happening for probably a year now. So no, either Ben doesn't see the comments or he doesn't care.
Doesn't matter, I suppose, as long as people keep posting the comments to keep others from ordering.
Why mess with these when Google hosting is free and high quality. Only thing more you need is a registrar for about $4-$10/yr.
Well, not to be contrary, but I've been with Globat for almost 2 years. I find them to be really good actually. Their speeds are terrific, technical support is always a breeze. They've never "signed me up" for any kind of premium service. Probably the only complaint are a weekly email telling me about what great features I could upgrade to. I mean, I paid 130 bucks for 3 years worth of service of 100gb storage and a terabyte of transfers a month.
Not only that, but I've used them for video podcasts and flv file transfers. I've never had any breaks or interruptions.
Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, but I consistently recommend globat to people and every friend/family member that's signed up has never reported anything bad.
GLOBAT = CROOKS!
This company is horrible when it comes to their service. I had tried out their 6 months free trial version. After 5 months I wasn't impressed with them and plan to cancel. However, they automatically RENEWED only after 5 months! I tried contacting them many times to tell them to take it off, but they were useless. I had to end up getting VISA to cancel it for me. Thank god for VISA customer service. I will NOT be recommending them to anyone!
Frankly, Ben's willingness to continue to advertise these CROOKS calls in a LOT of questions.
The WORST people I've ever dealt with - PERIOD.
As others have said, GLOBAT is one of the worst of the worst. Their technical support is non existant as they did not respond to a single trouble ticket that I submitted. They double charged me for the service and claimed that I was lying about that. After 20 emails and faxing a copy of my AMEX bill they finnally agreed to cut me a check. They are just not worth the hassle. They tried to upgrade me because i was such a good customer, an upgrade that would have trippled my bill. They were going to do that automatically, unless I responded to an email they sent me. Stay FAR FAR away from these crooks.
#4, I've been with 1&1 for 3 years now and have no complaints at all. I've read about others having bad experiences, but to me they've been nothing but professional.
free are always welcome, thanks ben
#11 works for Globat, and sucks bacon
I don't work for globat. I'm being honest. Sorry that you have to resort to menialities.
so many comments about this crappy "deal", yet it keeps coming back. why?
