The picture matches the straight HDMI one in quality. Keep in mind, though that with HDMI you are transmitting both sound and picture, while DVI is for digital picture only. When using DVI hookups, you need to use a separate (analog or digital) hookup for audio.

This works great connecting my PC to my Philips TV. The audio had to go to the stereo though.
