    How reliable are these devices?

It's made by Tivo, I'm sure it works great!

Still no WPA encryption with this one. D-Link makes a Pocket sized router DWL-G730AP that works in Client Mode that provides WPA encryption for my Tivo. It runs less then $50 also.

Only TiVo network adapters allow you to use WPA encryption. cubancheapskate is wrong. See http://customersupport.tivo.com/LaunchContent.aspx?CID=8e566f54-a3ce-4b0c-9d8d-796e2052076b on the TiVo support site for further details.

I have two TiVo adapters and I am very happy with them. This is a good price for them too.

Anybody got a suggestion for a $3 filler at Buy.com? Last I looked, the best I could find was a ~$6 (once shipping was considered).

I use one of these on my Series2 TiVos and was at first upset that it didn't support WPA.

However you can sign your TiVo up to get the latest update that does support WPA (only with the TiVo adapter)

    http://research.tivo.com/81priority/

Sign up and yout TiVo will be updated and give you WPA support (as well as several performance gains)

#6, that might be the most helpful post i've ever seen on this board. You should get a ps3 for that!

Heh, thanks, I've been using it for a month or so now (the new updates). It also adds vblog downloads - RocketBoom, C-Net articles, Heavy.com stories, blah

    Enjoy!

We've had ours for almost a year (we found it via Ben's: represent!) and it works just fine. You might want to assign it a permanent IP addy when you install it, as power outages have been a bear as everything scrambles for a new IP. The TiVo and the printer had to duke it out for a while...

I've been using a DWL-G730AP hooked up to my Bedroom TIVO with WPA Encryption to my D-link 4300 router for months. It was $15 at compusa listed here. At that time Tivo support had said they had no ETA for WPA support with thier own adapters so I gave the DWL-G730AP a try successfully.
