Are these digital photo frames worth it? What kind of picture quality do you get? Should I just purchase a 14 inch LCD monitor and hand it on an old PC?

You need to pay about $150 for a decent frame. 640x480 minimum resolution, 720x480 even better. A 7" frame (LCD size) gives you a picture about 4"x6" (like the size of stardard prints from Costco). Adequate for viewing while sitting on you desktop or sharing with others. This one comes with a 1 gig card, but I think you will be disappointed in the picture quality. With the low 420x234 resolution, you could probably store 200-400 photos in just 10 MB at about 24k each. A 720x480 resolution frame will store 100 photos in just 10 MB, so the 1 gig card is overkill for the frame, but a nice add on if you need it for a camera.
