I live in Philadelphia (zip 19154). CC online reporting "not available for delivery or online". Looks like I'm L on this one. Good luck if your in an area where it is in stock.

Same thing happened to me on Monday/Tuesday when they had the Vizio 50". It was only available at stores 50+ miles from my house (I wanted to buy online and have delivered but it was not available).

Oh boy does polaroid make a bunch of crap. Excuse me. A bunch of crap is made and then polaroid puts their name on it.

i've seen this in local CC & Target, honestly, picture quality pretty good. go see it yourself.
regarding polaroid crap...yes, they put their name on some cheapo labor made in china shit. but they're ok! i've got some made in china no-name dvd players & couple polaroid, interesting thing is, when i go to set up menu, they're using the same software & all look the same! they're still working fine for me. & u definitely need one of this cheapo player at home, 'coz they just play anything disc u put in, including all copy dvd regardless of media brand...

It's one thing to buy a cheap "Polaroid" DVD player or a pex dispenser but to shell out $900 for a "Polaroid Anything" is foolish.

Basically I compared the polaroid picture with the Olevia another similarly priced off-brand LCD (most of you are familiar with it from this forum) side by side and the Olevia beat the polaroid by a mile using the same signal. Of course the latter was still miles behind the Samsungs with their high contrast ratio but ya got to shell out big bucks for them. I would prefer to have a an LCD TV that is not obsolete in months. I saw an HD-DVD 1080p movie on the Samsung. It was absolutely stunning. When the HD-DVD player was hooked up to the Olevia it was pretty good for the dough but of course it lacked the Samsungs presence. The polaroid looked the worst of the three and all used the HDMI via the player. They just love it when I come into the store and ask them to hook up various scenarious so I can test drive them but it is the only way to get that true sense of bang for the buck. Darn I wish I could afford the Samsung.

Oh ya yes I know I compared a plasma to the LCD. Gosh I like the latest LCD's compared to the plasmas. I think the latter's days are numbered.

Fully a third of the buyers who submitted reviewer comments on the CC site HATE this set.

You can get a 50- to 56-inch Samsung DLP with 1080p now for $1200-$1500. The bigger the screen, the more DLP makes sense. Plasmas in this size range eat electricity like a refrigerator and weigh 100-plus pounds; LCDs aren't there yet on sharpness/contrast/reliability at this size; I'd stack Samsung's DLP picture quality against both.

At a 42-inch range like this, though, I'd consider plasma (barely) first, then LCD, then...nothing at today's specs. And it's just plain gonna be an LCD world as that technology improves.

re: Plasmas vs. LCD's

For those of you suggesting "it will be an LCD world", blah, I remind you of the famous words from Mark Twain:

"Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated".

Go look at the Panasonic THxxPX60U (where xx is inch size in 37, 42, and 50) with optimal settings and compare against any other set. There's no comparsion at that price point, period. Of course, Panasonic ships these with brightness/contrast up full, and retailers also seem to like to display them that way, which is ridiculous.

www.6ave.com is going to have the 42" th42px60u on sale on Saturday for $1149 plus about 150 shipping (plus tax ny and nj only). You can't find any set that can compare on picture quality at that price point.

I'm surprised the negative reviews made it on to the CC site. Many of their items which (obviously) suck only have glowing reviews... I think they'll delete the negative ones.

I do not trust the CC reviews on most items. Got a chuckle out of this one tho.

Horndoggy, do you think I could hook up this plasma TV to a solar cell so I can run it off sunlight, just like I run my landscape lighting off sunlight? You're such an advocate of environmentally-friendly power sources I just know you'll give me some good advice. You know, tell me where I can go?
