What uses tivo still? Seems to me that all digital cable programming has their own DVR nowadays. Looks like the Tivo Brand will be extinct pretty soon.

$15 a month is a rip too. My DirectTV HD-DVR is $10 a month. This burp thing isnt even HD. What the burp? Tivo will most definately be out of business in approx. 12 months. Steer clear of this baconnaise unless you want to be stuck with some useless electronic equipment.

I use TIVO and still use it because I prefer the user interface over those provided by cable and satelitte providers. It's a personal preference I am willing to pay for. I suggest people compare the different interfaces before making a choice. Just because something is cheaper doesn't mean it's better or worth it.

Yes it does. If it's basically the same baconnaise then yes you should buy the cheaper product. they do the exact same things, and in fact my DVR is high def, so it's actually a far better product. Tivo is bullshit, burp that baconnaise. Non High def for $180?!?1?! and it's $15 a month for a year, then up to $20 a month?!! WOWOW!! RIP CITY!! Tivo sucks balls, use your head dummy. I'm rockin High Definition DVR for less than you and your shithouse Tivo. I watch High Definition NFL games on DVR, and The Office in HD on DVR, and all kinds of other HD programming while you're still stuck in 2001 when Tivo was hip.

O BTW, mines dual tuner as well. So big burp woopdie do on the dual tuner baconnaise. O and for you morons, dual tuner means you need 2 seperate cable coax feeds so if you are living in your 1970's house you most likely dont have that baconnaise, or you can run coax along your floor and be trashy. I on the other hand have 2 coax feeds to my shits built into the walls. My baconnaise is state of the art wiring throughout the hosue. burp off.

No, Direct TV HD DVR's aren't tivo anymore. Tivo is being phased out by them because who needs the burp middle man. The new Direct TV HD-DVR's are a different mpeg-5 format or some bullshit and Tivo is gonners. They still provide tivo for the people stuck in the past though, which will be gonners soon enough too.

I actually use tivo with the basic cable that is included in my rent. So I actualy save using Tivo to get my Show schedules, and the DVR vs paying extra for digital cable with the rented box plus additional extra for the dvr

horndoggy11 needs to be banned. His comments are uselss, his posts are full of attacks, slurs, and profanity. I am filing a complaint with Ben to get this loser off this site. But then like any troll he'll be back with another ID. Losers like this seem to have a stalker type mentality with message boards -- the only place they can flame others without physical backlash.

O gee look at the "my baconnaise dont stink" #10's comments who have nothing to do with the topic, and are laced with personal attacks. What, you can come here and call me a fat loser, and talk about nothing to do with this Tivo product and ask for me to be banned? Gee, sure sounds like a hypocrit to me. Atleast my posts are all about Tivo, and I even commented about how your wiring needs to be for dual tuner, which I can guarantee is helpful to those who do now know about dual channels. Why don't you go back to writing letters to the FCC about indecent profanity on the Brady Bunch.

...and who the hell is he talking to? Didn't his mommy love him? I mean, she's right upstairs in the living room smoking Lucky Strikes, drinking Kaluha and watching her soaps in her Velveeta stained bathrobe. He should get out of her basement and give her a hug. That'll keep him from posting for a couple minutes.

Don't worry guys -- he'll be gone soon. I just sent a message to the admin. do the same if you are sick of horndoggy11.

BTW. I have DirecTV Tivo and pay $5 a month so it's a win win situation there. DirecTV no longer sells DVRs with Tivo but you should still be able to get them off the internet at sites like eBay. You can still sign up a DirecTV Tivo and use it for quite some time to come.

Anyways, in conclusion. Tivo is an inferior product with will no doubt be phased out of the world by larger corporations with their own product and cutting out the middle man. It was a genious idea on Tivo's part, and surely they made a good amount of cash during this run. But in about 2 years, Tivo will not exist.

horndoggy11 needs to go -- comment on the item and let it go

How do you people take these posts personally? State that you can get simlar service somewhere else cheaper and let it go. I don't need to know what TIVO sucks or what you have at home is better than this deal. Inform the public and move on.

BTW - Horndoggy1 thru 10 are probably good people, horndoggy11 gives the other horndoggys a bad name.

Horndoggy has made a clusterf**k of this dicussion, as usual.

Anyway...Tivo is more expensive, but it also has a better interface in my opinion. Also, customer service is fantastic, as opposed to any cable provider I have dealt with.

There is something that people here aren't addressing. Cable providers usually require that you have digital cable to use Tivo. Satellite providers require boxes for each TV, which makes satellite more expensive for people whole have multiple TVs in a house pre-wired for cable.

Tivo addresses non-satelite and non-digital cable consumers who cannot utilize provider DVRs (in addition to those who don't like provider interfaces), of which is still a large portion of the market that connot even purchase cheaper DVR service. In other words, people with OTA TV or non-digital cable must use a standalone DVR. For these people, Tivo is a great alternative instead of needing to pay for additional TV content that they don't use anyway.

In conclusion, every product has its niche. I have analog cable because I don't want to pay another $15 a month for digital cable with more channels I don't watch and another $9 a month for a crappy DVR. Therefore, $13 a month for Tivo is a good deal for me. As with any product, check it out before you buy it to see if it is what you want. Tivo is not dying.

corndoggy11 can hardly claim he's a victim here or simply trying to state the facts when he is the first post in this thread to take it off topic and be offensive and ending his post with 'burp off':

I join the torch-carrying villagers in getting him banned from the site...

And now, ladies and gentlemen, expect a profanity-laced tirade response from him, with references to one or more of the following: being g/a/y, being a minority, being rich, being poor, being a snob, or a threat of physical violence. It's the horndoggy11 forumla...

You guys are all a bunch of burp pussies. At least horndoggy11 actually talks about the products at hand and gives his insight. Take what he says as informative and amusing. If he gets banned, bensbargains will surely go out of business because nobody will know what is actually a good deal without horndoggy11's great advice!
