and now for two HELPFUL remarks...
    1. Dish Network DVR is pretty sweet. Only $6/mo and it supports a 2nd TV via a UHF remote. Got one last week.
    2. Time Warner DVR eats ass. It's expensive and kludgy. Got one for my parents today.

I was weighing TWC vs. Tivo for my 'rents, and I made the wrong decision. The first complaint/problem they have w/ the crappy TW box, I'll return it and get them a TiVo.

Without drastic price adjustment, Tivo isn't ever going to be as big as they were in the past, but there's still a place for them in the market.

Oh, and that guy being a douchebag? Yeah, he's a douchebag. Somebody snap a pic and send to http://www.bigdouchebag.com/ ASAP.

I love my tivo. I'm an old school 'normal' cable user and use my Tivo everyday. Of course I only pay like $5 a month for it, so I don't know if I'll keep it when I have to pay $20...

There are just too many other ways to get content now to put up with Tivo's poor customer service and high-priced equipment and monthly service.

We recently ditched the Tivo after having it for about two years. Although I miss a few things about it, overall I'm happy they're not leaching $13/month from me anymore.

At least horndoggy11's comments are funny as well as informative unlike you other 10 people who just talk baconnaise about him in your posts. Your not funny or informative so go write your canadian bacon emails to ben telling him to "ban him" and go back to playing stratego and D&D in your parents basement.

I have this Tivo I suggest you goahead and throw down money for the year subscription or pay for the lifetime subscription. The monthly just adds andother bill to pay a month.

As an owner of 2 TiVos I can say there are features I use that my cable company's DVR doesn't offer.

Having a networked house I have both TiVos online, with the Home Media feature on TiVo I can stream music/pics/etc from my computers to my TV.

With TiVbacono-go I can also transfer shows from my TiVo to my PC and then burn it to a DVD, all supported through TiVo.

Having both TiVos on the wire also allows me to transfer shows between units. The old TiVo upstairs (single tuner) records the wife's shows and downstairs (dual tuner) records my shows as well as kid/family shows.

Yes the award winning interface keeps a lot of people, but I will never go to my cable co's DVR solution.

Since I bought my second TiVo with a 3-year plan pre-paid, my 2nd TiVo qualified for the multiple-unit discount...so my monthly TiVo payment is now $7

EDIT: Oh forgot about the new update from TiVo that also adds vblog downloading. Rocketboom, C-Net articles, Heavy.com videos, etc etc. Also WPA support and performance gains.

Oh. And when I had DirecTivo I loved it. The cable DVRs I've seen are really clumsy in comparison.

Hey horndog... Are you stupid or what? Tivo owns the technology. They ain't goin outta business. Echostar owe's them millions for infringement. Cox cable signed an agreement with them. The IP is pretty iron clad too. Watch and playback while you record. That is owned by TIVO... You might be able to use some other brand of DVR right now, but a cut of that will eventually end up in tivo's pocket anyway. They are behind now, because of all the lawsuits, but in the long run they will have the BEST equipment for the dollar...

Horndoggy is like a car wreck...I want to look away, but I can't!

Enduro, your comment about his mom wearing a Velveeta stained bathrobe was genius. This forum rocks...I get a microscopic amount of info about the actual topic, but LOADS of terrific, inappropriate crap to go along with it!!

as for DirecTV, the new HD DVR cant compare to the prior model DirecTV HD Tivo.

I have been using DirecTV Tivos for more than 3 yrs. This year, I got replacement with 3 DirecTV DVRs. Functionality wise, quite buggies and not as stable. UI also not as nice as Tivos. Tivo's UI design far superior, hands down.

When I read horndoggy11 comment trashing Tivos. It just makes me laugh. He has no INSIGHTs. He doesnt fully understand the functionality and features of Tivo vs the new DirecTV DVR, whether its just the regular DVR or HD DVR.

TIVO has a far superior interface - I have both TIVO and cable company DVRs and I believe that we should all support TIVO, but it's hard to conceed to TIVO when the cable companies provide dual tuners and HD for minimal cost compared to the $700 TIVO unit.

Please cable companies buy TIVO technology and put it in your boxes...your tech sucks and sticks often.

Using a standard cable setup, you do NOT need two coax cables to use the dual tuner feature, just one cable. If you have digital cable, the dual tuner issue becomes more complicated.
