Saw this at local Aldi's on sale for $0.79. My son tried using one this year and it was going fine until the plant just up and withered away. Seems hard to keep a tomato plant alive in one of these. We're not gonna try again.

always thought these looked too dorky to even give a try. Im figuring the company that makes one that blends in nicely with a normal persons patio would make $$$.

I laughed when I saw my diehard Italian neighbor set one of these up. She is really nice, so I couldn't tell her it wasn't going to grow anything.

These do work... just not as well as a right side up 5 gallon bucket with a stake in it.

^ Agreed. The 5 gallon buckets use up a lot less water and are able to keep the plant moist adding to their life. Most of these lose way too much water to evaporation.
