Ends at 10PM PDT. Woot! has the 2-pack Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter w/ Vertical Grow Bag for $5 + $5 shipping = $10 shipped. This upside down planter uses gravity to force water and nutrients to pour downn from the roots to the flower.
I know a few people that have used these with success.
I personally always thought they were doughnut ugly, and have had incredible success in a traditional yard based garden. Theres no way Id hang one of these ugly mofos off my roof or deck.
A lot of people make it seem harder to raise tomatoes than it really is. Right now I have a few growing in terrible clay soil with no attention at all from me, there were just some seeds scattered on the ground from where a tomato fruit fell off last year and they started on their own once the temperature rose and it started raining.
These are $2.50 apiece at your local WalMart... woot woot...
Might work if you have time to water them every day.
Get a raised bed and read.

If you MUST use good potting or good light dirt from the garden.
Good luck and get out side and off Farmville
