I told my best man and batchelor-party buddies that I wanted to get nailed. So they obliged:

Boy! Did I wake up with a hangover.
    I couldn't remember anything.
I hope it was worth it.

This is funny! I just purchased one of this exact roofing nail gun at our local Harbor Freight store about 2 weeks ago to put new shingles on our studio. It was $100 and I got the 20% off ( my cost $80) coupon from Slick-deals and no shipping. Also got my wife to purchase the nails for the nail gun at 20% off! I put about 3500 nail through the gun with NO PROBLEMS. It worked 100%. Harbor Freight tools are not professional tools, but generally fine for the home owner. I could have purchased a better roofing nailer for about 3 times the price, but why if I only plan to use it a few times?

You're not going to find an air nailer in the $1 store... for that matter you're not going to find a USA made air nailer in any store for under $100. That's the nature of Harbor Freight, its cheap because its built cheap. That's ok with a hammer or a wrench but you risk it with more complex tools. For example, the closest equivalent of this gun Home Depot has in a decent name brand is a reconditioned one for $170, the best new one is $200. If you just cant afford that then you get this and hope for the best. Harbor Freight is a great place if you're smart about whats worth it and whats not, but their not trying to pass themselves off as the Mercedes-Benz of the tool world either.

I wouldn't say it is ok on a hammer or wrench. Hammer hardness matters as does the handle quality, though I concede it is easier to get these aspects right as they are simple tools. Bad idea on a wrench, lower tolerances can round nuts or the whole thing can crack or bend when you need it most. If these were one use tools it would be one thing but if treated well a hammer or wrench can last dozens of years.

Good bacon they always have some kind of promo or coupon and they're prices are way lower than Home Depots
The only drawback is that the tools usually do not last forever. most of their stuff in made in china
