This is a good deal if you buy in store and avoid shipping. These are normally $25.99 with free shipping at amazon. BTW, I have burned over 400 of these at 4x with nero and not a coaster yet. Good quality.
best buy is always overpriced. Shop elsewhere!
you can find these cheaper at shop4tech.com and other places...
Give me a link to a cheaper retail 20-pack spindle, #2.
Oh, and yeah, youre welcome, Ben.
good deal.. i need these.. been lookin around for a while.. the deal i got from newegg a while ago cant be beat though.. it was like 40 for 36
when will these thing comes down to like 50 or 30 cents each
still too much for me.
Make sure you get the "Made in Singapore" as opposed to the "Made in India" ones. I've had a couple of coasters from India and the Indian ones don't always read well on a drive different than the one that burned them.
Sam's Club had the 50 pack spindle Made in Singapore ones for the low-$60's a month or two ago.
Toddsucks would tell you how good bestbuy is
These might be good but you're paying too much. Just like the Monster cable products, there are quality products out there for half the price. I use Windata 8x DL 20 packs. They cost 11.99 at Micro Center and I never get coasters. I've used it on about 12 movies, 4 data disks and 14 Xbox 360 games and burned them at every speed 2x, 2.4x, and 4x(my burners max). No coasters and I still have more money in my pocket than you Verbatim sheep.
#8 whatever.
I don't know about everyone else here, but I've experimented with various brands of DL media. The only truly reliable brand is Verbatim. I've also had good luck with TDK.
It all boils down to what works in your burner and in the hardware you use for playback. What works for one person, may not work for someone else. But with a brand like Verbatim, they work for everyone, all the time. Hell, Memorex discs are cheap too, but I often have burn issues or they burn and won't playback properly. But there are countless people that only use memorex.
Like I said #9, there are quality products for half the price if you look. If you experimented, I'm sure you found a cheaper disk that would work but you don't want your friend to know you use something besides Verbatim. You stated you experimented but can only comment on one disk brand you had issues with.
You go ahead and spend $1.15 a disk and I will spend my $0.60.
RiData is a good brand as well. 20 disk 2 coasters. Cost ratio works out well.
@#9 You hit the nail right on the head. It's a case by case basis.
The $30 Memorex 50 pack from buy.com is the best deal in my opinion, but I actually have a Memorex drive to burn them with. 38 discs @ 8X, not a single failure thus far. The drive you use to melt them can make a huge difference in your rate of success.
My Sony tells me they aren't even writeable .
If you want the best deal on Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL recordables today [07/08] go to NewEgg. They have 20 pack cake boxes for $23.99, free shipping, and a 10% discount with promo code BHDJULY89 [ends 07/08] which brings them down to $21.59 delivered if you live in a state that NewEgg doesn't charge tax. I don't know if these source from Singapore (desired) or India. In any case, it beats going to BestBuy.
#8 is a moron. I have a windata spindle from Micro Center I bought a couple years ago -- I get about 50% failure rate on verify. These days I'm using up the rest of the spindle on backing up movies I don't care about.
Verbatim, on the other hand, rocks.
