you would think eventually ben will stop listing these as 8x, since the newegg listing is 6x.
if you could tell for sure these are made in singapore, its an good deal.. but there is also a chance youll get crap.
too expensive and there really isn't any use for these double-sided discs
I ordered these a week ago. They are made in India.

What the heck keeps this DL media over $1/disc?! It's ridiculous.
For those who do not like rebates:

This burp guy doesn't have a clue.
rodeo cowboy.
Nice deal; for months you couldn't get these for less than $35 shipped.
They're great for backing up the few games that won't fit on a single layer disc and the few DVDs you don't want to strip or recode.
You can even fit an entire season of a TV show on one of these, assuming you don't mind encoding to 320-350MB XviD or x264.
And, of course, there's always the oddball burn that you really don't want to split onto two discs but won't fit onto one.
Yes, single layer is still way cheaper, but you can't deny that for some things, the convenience of a DL disc justifies the extra 90 cents over two single layer discs.
did #2 say DOUBLE SIDED?
Im tempted to buy him some, just so we can laugh as he tries to burn on the top of the disc
They do come in handy as #8 says.
#4, there is no need to compress unless you want to keep the menus and extra features. In most cases the menus and extras are useless. You can easily split a movie over two blank discs.
#8, if these are made in India (like #3 stated) then they will be very poor quality. IMO it is not worth the risk.
#11, so I have to get up and change discs halfway through each movie? That is ridiculous. Are you that much of a pauper that you can't afford the 90 cents extra for movies you really like? Goddamn u poor bastard.
I get DL discs for TV shows seasons. The menus are barebones on those and they'll get compressed to all hell if you put them on DVD5.
Several of these now are featured in my house...as coasters. That's true even when I burned at 4X with my otherwise-reliable Samsung burner.
bestbuy routinely has this 20pack for $30.. and then you can walk in and check where they were manufactured
to me, its worth a couple extra bucks to be sure Im not buying trash.
There are some DVD9 are not compressable such as concert and karoke. I am not talking about poor quality but the data in these type of DVD are simply already at the fulliest. So DL is necessary for these type of application.
For these who doesn't know this, in order to get high quality compression, you have to do deep analysis and then backup to the sharpest mode. This will take an additional hour or more, depending on your CPU. If you just run it on regualr mode, it will be fine for most movies. However, if it is indoor concert, you will see a lot of artifacts whenever there are high contrast exist such as when spot lights over pitch black background or sparckles. The extra time to compress is not worth to save that extra dollar.
#3, India does not made single layer Verbatim disk, let alone the more complicated DL.
#1, even the older 2.4x versions are 8x on NEC burners. At one point they were clearly out the 2.4x (only) version for $7 (spindle of 10) or 70c each. It was good deal since they are the same as the newly labelled 2.4-6x version.
False. I received Verbatim DL media and it was made in India.
#17, I just take a look on mine (spindle of 10). They are made in Singapore. These are the ones that I got baconnaise loads at 70c each. Before you go off and say Singapore is no good, you may want to learn the business relationship between Singapore-Taiwan-Japan.
So I guess I was just imagining things when I saw "Made In India" stamped on the spindle I purchased via this very same deal?
You're an rodeo cowboy. You said that no DL Verbatim was made in India. That is dead wrong. It's made in both India and Singapore. Singapore is better quality than India.
I don't know what you're bacon rant was about, but you are wrong when you say that India does not produce Verbatim DL DVDs.
