i think you need the gold if you actually want to play games online. def. worth the purchase for him...maybe not for you since you will not have as much of his attention.

Tex, your hubby will not be able to play his games online nor will he be able to download movies, tv, and some other content without the gold membership.

Also, the gold membership is normally 50 bucks, so it may be worth it to pick this up for 40.

Or consider the camera pack from Amazon for $65 with a year Gold, the camera, 200 live points, and 2 XBLA games(Uno and Robotron) Not a bad deal

Don't listen to the posts saying you cant download movies, tv shows etc. You absolutely can do all of that with a Silver membership.

The silver membership can do everything that the gold can do, EXCEPT play actual games online with other people. That's the only different. It's a pretty big difference, and worth it, but I had to say something and correct that.
