I wouldn't buy a refurb screen without first inspecting it for bad pixels. Your bargain disappears when you have to pay to return it and scrap with the dealer about how many flaws you count versus how many they do.

I bought this last fall and kept it for 30 days before returning it because the remote doesn't have discrete buttons for each input. Didn't have to pay for return shipping, either. No scrap involved. YMMV.

#1 Yes but a plasma is much less likely to have the bad pixel issue than an LCD screen.
Personally having seen so many negative comments on Philips refurbs over the last couple of years I wouldn't touch one....
