Wow, weight is 54kg, and thickness is 53.7cm.. Considering that 27" LCD TV is around $300 on some deals, this seems not to be worth buying unless you are addicted to superior picture quality of CRT..

Yes, CRT is far more superior.

I'd recommend the 34" widescreen though. They can be had for $350 if you wait.

I wouldn't buy a Philips or magnavox hdtv without seeing one in the store to confirm you like the picture. I got a magnavox hd crt from these folks and it came alright but the picture is basically not HD when using an HD source.

#3, there are a number of things you can try:

- Have you tried adjusting the TV using something like the Digital Video Essentials DVD? It made a huge improvement on my CRT rear projection TV.

- Do you sit at the proper distance? The recommended minimum viewing distance is 4 times the height of the screen for a widescreen TV. In my case sitting an additional 2 feet away from the TV made a noticable difference.

- What is your HD source? Is it working properly and connected properly?

- Are you sure the TV is working properly?

- Which connection do you use for video? HDMI, Component, etc Are your video cables in good condition?

BTW, from my experience even crappy TVs can look good when viewed from the right distance.
