Onkyo's new stuff out of the box is as risky as refurbed. Never again. Read the reviews before you waste your money. Amazon, Newegg etc.....its a crap shoot whether you get a good one or a bad one....
^^^ Agreed. Onkyo seems to have a lot of runs of bad product. In some ways, buying refurb is almost a better gamble than buying new. To me, this is unacceptable from a upscale mass market brand like Onkyo. You just about have better luck with a lesser performing Pioneer... at least it will work out of the box.
Yup, Onkyo is now a bottom tier manufacturer for receivers. Horrible reports regarding customer service too. Denon seems to have maintained their quality, and Pioneer keeps getting better.
