If Fry's still has the R50s for $70ea they would be a lot better choice. Well worth the extra $40/pr. However these R300s will make fine surrounds for the R50s.
For those not familiar with this on again, off again clearance sale the discontinued R50s are a fine starter set for anybody unready or unwilling to get into much more expensive speakers.
