I don't think that the cable company DVRs are superior to the Tivo GUI and menus, but they do record in HD and when the next thing in DVRs comes out, you can upgrade at no cost. Tivo rightfully has its place and I know there are some very loyal fans, but the alternatives are pretty dayam good, especially when you factor in the rent vs. buy option. In this case, I prefer to rent.

It's OK as long as you don't have HDTV. My cable company charges $10/mo for a unit that has a very inferior interface, so the extra $3/mo for the TIVO is worth the money for me.
