I wonder if this is the "newer" HDMI model? Does anyone know if there is any way to find out when ordering?

It's almost certainly old stock they are trying to clear out, but you might be able to return it for an HDMI model in-store.

I have proofread everyone's comments, and have found each of them to be gramatically, syntactically, or orthographically incorrect, with the exception of #2 and #4.

#7, I own both. It really depends on your style. The 360 has some great single player games, but xbox live is the main thing behind it. I've had a Wii since launch and a 360 for a month. I own the following on the 360: Gears of War (a must), Forza Motorsports 2 (like grand turismo, but better i think), Bioshock (A MUST!!!!), and in Sept, I plan on NHL 08 and Halo 3. The biggest thing about GoW, halo 3, nhl is the multiplayer.. it's simply amazing.
For the Wii, I have Call of Duty 3, Zelda twilight princess, super monkey ball banana blitz, and just ordered metroid prime 3 corruption. As of now, the Wii does not have multiplayer support (unless you have extra controllers), so nothing over the internet yet.
But.. the Wii has a built in wifi, where as wireless for the 360 = a $100 proprietary adapter or ethernet (I opted for a 50' ethernet cable for $20).
The 360 has a buttload of games, and the Wii does too.. I can't wait for Mario Galaxy or Smash Bros. Brawl.
I guess in summation, for the occasional gamer, I'd go for a Wii. The 360 is more for the extras you get from xbox live. It's not bad though.. xbox live is only $50 a year and you can get loads of free downloads (game updates, multiplayer maps, etc). I love both of my systems, and who knows, maybe I'll get a ps3 next year (when there are actual games out for it).
I hope this helps.

#1, the newer HDMI units actually have that marked on the box...in the fine print on the side. The newer processors wont be here for a couple of months though.
