Wow! 4.40%!? Way to stay competitive ING!! Guess that's why you have $.01 of my money in your account right now! Honestly, how can you post this as a hot deal Ben??
I agree...especially when Emigrant are adverised just one up at 5.15%. When I closed my ING account they just didn't get it when I tried to explain that they were not comptitive any more.
It is a shame that they aren't raising their rates to be competitive. Even Citibank is offering a 5.00% APY savings account when you have a checking account with them. However, one reason to go with ING Direct is that they still offer the $25 referral bonus to new customers when they get a buddy to refer them. That more than makes up for the lesser interest.
locking in a CD at 5% is better than you'll find most places. most of the good rate CDs right now will only lock for a year
I moved $20k out of ING into Emigrant a month or so ago, and it'll stay that way until (unless?) ING wakes up and posts a better rate.
I have ING Direct, as long as you dont move money in/out of it daily its great. Works as advertised!
