Blockbuster is offering a free 4 week trial of their online rental service with coupon code 4weekfreetrial2010. Click on "Have a Promotional Code?" to enter code. They now offer unlimited movie and video game rentals for $9/month for their 1-disc plan or $17/month for the 3-disc plan.
Don't expect to get any games relatively new with blockbuster. A quick glance of their 'coming soon' lists Dead Rising 2 1/11/2011.....Reach 12/28/2010....Enslaved 1/18/2011....so on and so on. Worth bothering with I guess to play some older games missed out on, otherwise a waste of the handful of minutes to sign up.
Netflix is better. Larger library, and unlimited streaming are the big reasons for most. Blockbusters days are numbered they are shrinking fast. Netflix ultimately wants to move to streaming only. Netflix doesn't have games but Blockbusters are either old or out all the time. When I looked at games years ago there was another service I don't remember the name but all they did was games.
#5 was it Gamefly? that's operated by Netflix, I believe, and is pretty good (based on my experience 4+ years ago which may be irrelevant now) While you all make valid points, the bonus with the Blockbuster deal is that you can have movies AND video games on the same account, with one charge per month. There is no other service, that I know of, beside the brick and mortar blockbuster stores, that offers such a deal.
If you have a Blockbuster store close by, you can swap your mailed movies for instock store movies. Is Blockbuster still offering monthly coupons on new accounts? I get a coupon for a free instore game rental every month which is worth $9.00 plus tax.
Gamefly is a horrible deal, something like $20 with tax for 1 game at a time. You can get used games and sell them when you're done playing for a lot cheaper.
So why would I prefer Blockbuster over Netflix?
Why should I answer your question?
Why should a question be an answer?
