I haven't heard of any reviews yet on these...I'm also curious how good they really are.

They are 2.4 ghz, so you might run into some interference with wireless lans and cordless phones. I would say (given the previous range on some of the geeks purchases I've made) that it will work fairly well line-of-sight. Once you hit 2 or 3 walls, though, you're looking at snow.

These would be really good for Halloween or for surveillance on your property. Although you're going to have to catch someone pretty close to get a decent picture in the dark, I'd imagine. Even with infrared... the infrared LEDs probably are good for about 8-10 feet. So they wouldn't work too well to monitor, say, your yard... but they would work well to monitor a door or window.

I would suggest wiring these whenever possible. You'll probably get a much better signal that way. I also wonder if the channel switch has a "cycle through the cameras" mode for unattended surveillance.

If you wire them up instead of going wireless, you could use a couple of rf modulators like the Channel Vision CVT1 or E1200 so that they output on different channels. Then you could tune your TV to whatever channel you want to watch.

Would these work if i put them up around my bedroom giving me different angles on the bed so I could cut together a home-grown youporn video without needing a cameraman?

If you are looking for cameras I've had good luck with the cheap ones from Harbor Freight. I have four of them fed into a box that puts them on a website. It comes in handy to be able to check on the house from pretty much anywhere.

I use one of these wirelessly as a baby monitor. Got it from Geeks a few years ago for $40. Picture is great with Infared (black and white) but color is pretty lousy during the day time. The receiver is approximately 30' away from the camera and transmits through 2 walls. One wall is a bathroom wall which is tiled floor to ceiling. Every now and then you have to re-tune the receiverer because it drifts. By the way these cameras have sound as well. It sure has saved us unecessary trips to our sons room. We just turn on the monitor to see and hear what's going on.

#8 - Are you using the wireless cameras or the wired version (from Harbor Freight)?

By the way, if you decide to wire these, you can use Cat5 cabling with baluns on both ends up to 330'. No need to buy special video cables. Not sure if the Cat5 fwill work for the sound tough.

Sounds pretty good. I think having surveillance of your property is key, especially in a bad neighborhood (which I live in).
