Paid $10.29 at Amazon for 28 coppertops last week. A lot cheaper than buying those four packs at the register.

It's from Midnight Box, one of the most unreliable crooked companies out there. I wouldn't trust the deal.

I invested in rechargeables and have gone back to regular. The length of their charge seems to get exponentially shorter with every boost, really disappointing considering how much more they cost. I still end up throwing a bunch out.

I have had bad luck with Duracell rechargeables. I just bought some Tenergy because they have excellent reviews.

I have Tenergy LSD cells and they work as good as my Enerloops.

Sold out anyway, but I agree with Benmongrel...I bought those Enerloop rechargeables at Costco and they've sucked. Through them all out. I'm not sure why everyone makes 1.2V rechargeable AA's to replace 1.5V ones. That's why they suck so badly. I guess it's a current technology limitation.

Rechargeables are best used in high(er) current drain devices, where the higher current drain which causes a voltage depression on alkalines, offsets the lower nominal voltage of NiMH resulting in equal or higher usable capacity.

Alkalines are better for low drain devices like remote controls, clocks, or when you need to be able to let something sit unused for 2 or 3 years without thinking about it/recharging... though ironically enough you shouldn't leave alkalines sitting in such devices long term in case they vent and corrode the battery compartment.

Never had a problem with my Eneloops though, they make many of the battery powered things I have, reasonable to use.
