Yet more proof that DirectTV has won the satellite wars with their superior offering!

Can't tell if m0f0 is being sarcastic or not. This appears to be better than the Directv deal I am currently stuck with. Stupid 2yr contract for having a DVR that I can't even use because I can't get a second line to it.

I agree #2. The actual DirectTV hardware may be great and have better options than Dish but dealing with the DirectTV CS reps, installers and anyone else in their bureacracy is a nightmare. It is the only other organization besides Verizon and UPS that makes Comcast customer service seem like the best CS on earth.

Never had a problem with Verizon Wireless CS before. Always been helpful. I have hear otherwise on All of verizon's other business sectors. After my last 8 months, I might consider Dish.

if you can - get Verizon FIOS, have had it for 9 months without a single problem - picture/HD is great, good channel selection too

I have probelm with the installation of my DirecTV before too. The installer did not clamp the end of the cable properly on one of my TV on the outside 2 feet from the antenna. I have a 2 Story house and I don't like climbing up the barely tall enough ladder to re-clamp the cable every so often. I did it once and apply some electrical tape as well but it still lose contact when high wind. I complaint to the CSR and she told me nothing they can do since it's been over 90 days. I have to pay $160 for the tech to come out to check it out. I said #$#$# and switch over to Dish after my contract is up. Dish got more HD channels anyway (even though they are not worthy of watching) but they do seem nicer with their CSRs.

#6 yes, especially when the CSR's are from Bollywood!
I agree that DirecTV customer service is soul destroying and when we move house next month in AZ our choice is some mum and pop cable company in the backwoods or Dish Network. The only problem with Dish is that we will have to go Qwest for broadband and they are a company of weasels that I swore I would never use again.

Qwest is a piece of shit too.

Quest can't be nearly as bad as the analrapists (Tobias Funke reference) working at the company formerly known as Adelphia. It seems that every new month on the calendar is reason enough to hike up rates; f'ing bullsh1t if you ask me.

This looks like it might be a great deal for those of us that are out in the sticks and don't have any other choice other than sat. systems.
